Advocacy

Individual Advocacy

Through our Individual Advocacy, we promote and protect the rights of people with disability and their family and carers in NSW.

To Advocate

means to promote, protect and secure a person’s rights. The Social Worker at Vision & Goals will help you to make sure that your rights are recognised and respected. A social worker will “stand beside” you and support you to make your own decisions and get what you need. We help people stand up for their rights, such as when people have problems with housing, food, school, work, financial crisis, and disability services. Ongoing support from a social worker to provide referrals and follow up on how you achieve your goals.

Your Vision & Goals Support Coordinator

Are you a person with a disability or a family member, and you live in NSW, and you want to:

  • Be free from abuse, neglect or discrimination?
  • Be treated fairly at work, home, within your community, or by your service provider?
  • Have your issues heard and acted upon?
  • Know more about your rights and responsibilities as a person with a disability or as a family member or career?
  • Make your own decisions?
  • Know more about the services that are available to you?
Your Vision & Goals Support Coordinator

When you contact Vision & Goals,

Our Social Worker will ask you questions about your issues and the support you need and will listen to your answers. Then, you and your Social Worker will make a plan together about what to do.

Systemic Advocacy

Vision & Goals Systemic Advocacy work towards positive changes in the system together with and on behalf of people with disability and their families/carers. We also seek to influence or secure positive long-term changes that remove barriers and address discriminatory practices. This ensures the collective rights and interests of people with disability are upheld.

We work towards positive transformations in policies, procedures, practices and service delivery in government and non-government agencies.

Your Vision & Goals Support Coordinator

To achieve better outcomes for people with disability and their families/carers we:

  • Respond to new initiatives, policies, procedures,
  • Work with other agencies to effect change,
  • Take action to place our issues on the agenda.
